Dear colleagues, dear friends,
A very Happy New Year!
As we step into 2025, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable progress of our
association and to share some exciting developments awaiting us in the year ahead.
Keep Learning with SECEC
This spring, we will be launching the SECEC Certificate, a milestone achievement led by our Qualification
Committee, designed to recognize expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery. This initiative represents our
commitment to supporting professional excellence amongst our members.
Education is at the heart of our mission. The Surgeon-to-Surgeon Series is back, beginning with Olivier
Verborgt on Wednesday, January 15th, and our projects will continue with new webinars. These sessions
provide unique opportunities to exchange knowledge and refine skills. In one of our upcoming sessions,
we will join forces with the International Society of Biomechanics, opening our horizons!
Joining SECEC as a Junior Member
In 2024, we warmly welcomed a wave of new junior members, who have brought fresh energy and ideas
to SECEC. Every couple of months, they lead the Online Shoulder and Elbow School, where they engage
in challenging discussions with expert surgeons on complex cases. These live sessions have been a
fantastic platform for learning and collaboration. Junior membership is free for young professionals under 32, feel free to apply online.
Using our influence at the European Level
On a broader scale, I am glad to say that SECEC continues to play a significant role in shaping the
future of our field. Together with EFORT, we are advocating at the European level for updated MD
regulations that encourage innovation, ensuring a progressive and dynamic environment for our field.

I am incredibly honoured and proud to lead SECEC during this time of growth and development.
Together, we are advancing our shared mission and building a strong future for elbow and shoulder

Let’s make 2025 another remarkable year!
