PJI Group

Formation and Purpose

The SECEC PJI Group was initiated through the efforts of Alessandro Castagna and Robert Hudek, aiming to advance the understanding of postoperative infections associated with shoulder and elbow surgery. The group was officially established under the presidency of Emilio Calvo, with its first meeting convened at the annual congress in Dublin in 2022.

Research Focus

Dedicated to advancing research in the field, the SECEC PJI group concentrates on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of joint infections affecting the shoulder and elbow. To support these aims, the group has developed the SECEC Database for shoulder infections, which is available online and accessible to eligible SECEC members.

Ongoing Activities

The SECEC PJI group convenes regularly and continuously develops and oversees multicenter research projects under the patronage of SECEC. Membership is open to new SECEC members, and the group actively provides assistance for research projects, fostering collaboration and ongoing progress in the study of joint infections.
